This time we decided to test a new type of lake, a small tarn in tyrol. We had little information about the fish population and the surrounding conditions, but we tried our luck and fished for carp and pike for three days. Arrived at the lake we were amazed, because the scenery there was one of the most beautiful we have fished so far. It had a size of 2.36 hectares and had clear cold water. In the lake were numerous barriers such as a small overgrown islands and numerous trees that lay in the water. Since we could not observe any fish in the shallow water, we tried it in the deeper places on carp. Therefore we created a large feeding area with particles of corn and pieces of the Annanas boilies that we used as hook bait. It took us several hours to attract the attention of the fish to our spot. However, the result of the first day could be seen. Three mirror carp and five scale carp up to 27 lbs. Since we were not allowed to fish overnight we ended our session for the day.
The next day the weather was much better and the sun was shining. For this reason we changed our tactics and tried surface baits like bread. A move that should pay off, because we caught one carp after another. At the end of the day we had a total of 16 scaled carp 6 mirror carp and one chub.
On the last day we were able to catch a small pike while spin fishing.
In summary it was a very successful session on a lake in the mountains where carp don’t get too heavy but have much more power than their fellow species.
